  • I-70 runs east–west across the state, linking Kansas with Colorado to the west and Missouri toward the east.
  • I-35 cuts diagonally (north-south) connecting Kansas to Oklahoma in the south and reaching into Minnesota in the north.
  • Other interstates such as I-135, I-335, etc. connect intra-state routes.
  • Kansas Turnpike — a toll road that forms important segments of I-35, I-70, and I-335 through parts of the state.

State Highways & Routes — Kansas has many U.S. and state highways (e.g. Highways 24, 36, 50, 54, 56, 83, 169, 183, 281, 283) that link towns and rural areas.

  • Wichita Riverfest — a long-running community festival in Wichita, held annually in late May / early June. It includes music, parades, fireworks, food, and family events.
  • Kansas City Renaissance Festival — held in Bonner Springs, Kansas (near Kansas City) typically from late August to mid-October.
  • Country Stampede — a major country music festival. In recent years, its venue moved to Bonner Springs, KS.
  • Along I-70, many communities host fall festivals (pumpkin patches, Oktoberfests, artisan fairs, local music) — e.g. the Flatlanders Fall Festival in Goodland, Oktoberfest in Hays & Junction City, etc.
  • In addition to these, almost every county has its county fair, local harvest festivals, and events tied to seasonal agriculture or local culture.
