  • Interstate I‑65 runs north-south through the state, from the Kentucky border, through Indianapolis, up toward Gary and the Illinois/Indiana border. 

  • Interstate I‑74 runs east-west across central Indiana, linking Illinois to Ohio via the Indianapolis region. 

  • Interstate I‑69 is a major corridor running from southwest Indiana (Evansville region) northeast toward Fort Wayne and beyond; the recent “Finish Line” project connected key segments. 

  • Interstate I‑465 is he beltway around Indianapolis, connecting the major interstates around the city.

  • West Side Nut Club Fall Festival (Evansville) — held in the first full week of October, includes hundreds of food booths, parades, and draws large crowds (150,000-200,000+) in recent years. 

  • Pierogi Fest (Whiting) — a fun summer festival in late July celebrating pierogi (Polish dumplings), with music, food, parade and lots of community spirit. 

  • Parke County Covered Bridge Festival (Parke County) — a 10-day festival in mid-October celebrating the county’s many historic covered bridges, crafts, and scenic drives; attracts millions of visitors. 

  • Valparaiso Popcorn Festival (Valparaiso) — celebrates the hometown of popcorn magnate Orville Redenbacher; includes a parade, fun run, vendors and popcorn-themed fun. 

  • Much of Indiana falls in a humid continental climate zone characterized by four distinct seasons, with hot, humid summers and cold winters. 

  • The southern portion of the state transitions toward a humid subtropical climate  milder winters, hot/humid summers.

       Indiana experiences four clear seasons, with warm/humid summers, cold winters, and transitional springs/falls that can be quite variable (including         thunderstorms, tornado risk in spring).

       The southern part of the state tends to have a milder winter climate compared to the north.
