  • Interstate 40 (I‑40): One of the major east‑west arteries. It enters from Tennessee, passes through Asheville, then through the Piedmont (Statesville, Winston‑Salem, Greensboro, Durham, Raleigh), and goes all the way to Wilmington. 

  • Interstate 85 (I‑85): Runs southwest‑northeast through the Piedmont, connecting Charlotte, Greensboro, Durham, and up toward Virginia. (Though I‑85 isn’t fully detailed above, it’s one of the main interstates in NC via various sources.)

  • Interstate 77 (I‑77): Goes north‑south, especially in the western and central parts, including through Charlotte. 

  • Future / auxiliary interstates such as I‑785 are being developed.

    • US‑264 is an important east‑west route between Raleigh and points toward the coast.

  • Lexington Barbecue Festival (Lexington, NC) — One of the most famous food festivals in the state, held in October. Big crowd, lots of barbecue vendors. 

  • North Carolina Azalea Festival in Wilmington — Celebrates spring, flowers (azaleas), garden tours, parades, etc. 

  • Shakori Hills GrassRoots Festival of Music & Dance (Pittsboro) — Folk, bluegrass, world music over several days with crafts, local food. 

  • BloomFest (Roseboro) — Springtime festival, local music, vendors, food trucks. 

  • Juneteenth is celebrated widely in NC with parades, cultural events, music, food, local business showcases.
